Time Magazine Names Lil Wayne “Best Rapper Alive”

Now, Time Magazine is not the most hip-hop of all publications, but their words hold weight. They have a whole piece on Lil Wayne –mainly about his rise to success– that is condescending at times but it still praises the ‘Nawleanean’ (emphasis on the ‘lean’). Here’s an excerpt. Oh, and I laughed my ass off when they described the Hot Boyz as “‘N Sync with shivs.”
“Over four years, he morphed from a mediocre rapper with a thuggish point of view into a savant who merges sex, drugs and politics with a sneaky intellect, a freakish knowledge of pop culture and a voice out of the Delta. Whether Wayne is, as he claims, the “best rapper alive” is no longer even debated in hip-hop or commercial circles…”

CRS Coming Soon…

Since we heard the house-inspired “Us Placers,” then teased further by the “Everyone Nose Remix,” CRS has been equivalent to trying to get full off the samples at Costco –tastes great but not too fulfilling. We now have some confirmation of forward movement when it comes to the trio made up of uber-cool rapper/producers Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West and Pharrell Williams.

RICK ROSS WAS A CORRECTIONAL OFFICER

Officer William “Rick Ross” Roberts.
Wow. Does this make him any less real? He does lose a point or two to me. Nothing is wrong with being a correction officer, but when you claim to hate police and such, it’s a little contradictory when you worked in law enforcement. I guess the coke-dealing made up for it.
And good thing he turned to drug dealing because he wasn’t making shit as a C.O. For two full years, too.

Here’s episode 2 from The Real. Also, I heard that Buck challenged Yayo to a boxing match and Yayo accepted. We’ve seen this before –Jay and Nas, 50 and Joe– and it never happens so I’m nowhere near close to actually believing it’s actually going to come to fruition.
