Haaaaa! Donald Trump is hilarious. He was asked a number of questions by Dominic Carter and Trump — being Trump and able to buy life– was brutally honest.
He actually goes in on America’s lame duck president, George Bush, before predicting 50 Cent’s “Apprentice” rip-off, “The Power and the Money,” would be a failure because he’s not Donald Trump. I must say that I kind of agree with the Donald.
I’m getting premature buzz about a new venture that hip-hop’s self-proclaimed G.O.A.T. and music mogul, Jay-Z, is teaming up with StarGate to create a new record label.
There’s no confirmation from either party but there is a glimmer of feasibility to the creation of a new label with the Norwegian production company. Juggernaut producers, Mikkel S. Eriksen and Erik Hermansen have moved to Jay-Z’s Roc the Mic studio in preparation.
I can remember it like it was yesterday. We used to be on the stoop on the block and see Sha come through in the silver Range Rover. There were times that 50 would be riding through the ‘hood in a yellow Hummer. Yayo would be around too. Sha’s mom own a bakery in my neighborhood, where Sha is from as well, and, no lie, the food is slamming. lol Anyway, peep this video.
Nas’ Untitled album did something its first week that G-Unit couldn’t –open at number one and beat Lil Wayne’s successful “The Carter 3.” “Untitled” managed to move 187,000 versus the 200k he was slated to do.
“Nas’ prior album, 2006’s “Hip-Hop Is Dead,” also debuted at No. 1 but sold 354,000 over Christmas week. Meanwhile, after three non-consecutive weeks at No. 1, “Tha Carter III” slips to No. 2 with a 15% sales decrease to 105,000.” –Billboard.com
I think it’s crazy (in a good way) that Lil Wayne is still moving 100k+ after a month.
I don’t know about everyone else, but I don’t rock Fila. Ever since I saw their Prada and Gucci knock-offs, I put Fila in the same pot as Karl Kani. My question is, can Nas make Fila cool?
Lil Wayne managed to move another 156k of “Tha Carter 3″ coming at number one on the Billboard Top 200. Even with a 25 percent drop, this puts “C3″ at 1.7 million sold since debuting four weeks ago. Maybe that “A Millie” abomination helped?
The ever-so-great “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay pushed out 149k for the number two spot with Disney’s/Jonas Brothers “Camp Rock” follows in third with 116k moved.
In a surprising –yet not so surprising– turn of events, G-Unit’s “Terminate on Sight” only scanned 102k coming in at number four. That’s two thirds less than their 2003 debut, “Beg For Mercy,” selling 377k its first week.
I thought the album was pretty good. It is a very ‘hood-album with plenty of songs to play with the volume on max as you cruise the streets of Jamaica, Queens –as I did last week– or pretend to if you’re out of town –like I did this week.
Tony Yayo shines on the album as if he’s making up for missing “Beg For Mercy.” Yayo actually exhibits a lot of charisma in his verses and stands out on most tracks. Though, 50 still is the “boss,” Yayo’s role as enforcer doesn’t go unnoticed.
Wayne has a lot to celebrate lately, and now, he can pop his own bottles –literally. Wayne is said to be launching a champagne line called Halo. The new venture is a partnership with Milestone Brands and French grower Voirin-Jume and will consist of many types of champagnes.
He will unveil Halo this fall with Halo Brut, Halo Brut Vintage, Halo Rose, and Halo Pinnacle varieties. “Champagne is for celebrating. There are so many different business opportunities … I want to take advantage of it all. I’m ready to put my foot in a new door,” Wayne said.
Branding is the smart thing to do with his recent success. But, does this mean he’ll put down the Styrofoam cup?
After a judged ordered Death Row Records to be sold at an auction due to bankruptcy, Global Music Group dished out $24 million for the former home of Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre. GMG gets Death Row’s catalog –which includes 20 unreleased Tupac records– and all of the west coast classics that come with it (watch video).
Besides the ‘Pac records, was Death Row really a that of a good deal? If I was Susan Berg (President of GMG), I would offer Death Row artists, such as Snoop and Dre an opportunity to buy them back for a good chunk of change and keep the ‘Pac records and flip another ‘Pac remembrance album with some big stars and give out samples like hotcakes. He’s an artist that will forever be sampled so she can probably turn some kind of a profit in no time.
Yup, whether you liked “Tha Carter 3″ or not, 1,005,545 other people did, so you don’t matter (lol). Despite rampant downloads courtesy of DJ Chuck T, “C3″ has officially cracked one million copies sold for it’s first week.
Wayne becomes the first artist to crack a million in week-one since 50 Cent’s “The Massacre.”
50 may have came in at #25, but that doesn’t mean he can’t make $68 million more than Jay-Z, right? Well, he did –”Vitamin Water. Try it!”.50 explains his impact on entertainment and business in comparison to Jay, Diddy and Kanye. He does make a lot of sense. 50 has only been in the game (officially) for five years.
