[Video] Wyclef Jean and Matt Damon Help Haiti
Posted by Des on September 15, 2008
Wyclef and Jason Bourne went traveled abroad to Haiti to help victims of the recent hurricanes. I know Wyclef is actually there to help but I just hope Damon isn’t looking for humanitarian points. But still, it’s good to see them both using their money and status for something positive.

Patient Left to Die on Kings County Waiting Room Floor
Posted by Des on July 1, 2008
This woman was brought to the psychiatric ward at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn and died 45 minutes after falling out on the waiting room floor. Many of the hospital staff –including doctor and security guard– ignored the woman, even after she collapsed.
The 49-year-old woman was brought to the hospital suffering from agitation and psychosis and waited in the Psychiatric ED for an inpatient bed. She was ignored by all who passed all the while dying on the floor. Her legs shook and and flailed about before completely becoming immobile. Forty-five minutes later someone checked on her and she was pronounced dead.
The HHC president Alvin Aviles ordered the termination of at least six members of the hospital staff, including the people in the video, those in “direct care of the patient, as well as managers of security and clinical services.”
A full investigation is still pending.

Yankees / Virginia Tech Fitted Cap
Posted by Des on May 24, 2008
Retail Value: $35.99
As a New Yorker and current DMV resident, I can appreciate this. This hat is more than just a color scheme. In a way, it shows the Yanks support for Tech after the incident last year. I think it’s cool that the greatest team ever to swing a bat is showing support for a college sports heavy school like Tech. Besides that, the harvest colors are hot. In the days proceeding the shooting last year, everyone is VA had on burgundy and orange showing support. From, shirts, to hats, to paraphernalia on vehicles, everyone was looking for a way to show some Hokie love. Over a year later, it’s good to see that the sentiment hasn’t been forgotten.

Kanye West - Dear Mama
Ok, I know that Mother’s Day is on of the most Hallmarked days of the year but it’s rare that mom dukes get shout outs in hip-hop. Of course, you have Pac’s, “Dear Mama,” which says, “Big ups to my moms” in all facets of our culture, but Kanye’s “Hey Mama” is trying to earn that share that spot. Read the rest of this entry »

Prodigy Blogging for Vibe Website
Posted by Des on April 29, 2008
As Prodigy serves his three-plus years in prison, his voice will not go unheard.
With the HNIC2 blog in full effect, Cell-block P’s views and opinions will stretch beyond his HNIC rants to a more structured Vibe[dot]com for a bi-weekly blog post.
Touching on subjects such as race, corruption, war, and all things ‘hood, Prodigy continues to convey more thought provoking messages.
His latest entry responds to Sean Bell’s killers ‘not guilty’ verdict. Though, many believe the officers getting a slap on the wrist is about race, P offers a different theory. “The Sean Bell murder coverup is less about race,” Prodigy said, “and more about power.” Read the rest of this entry »
