Here’s some good footage of Jim Jones’ “Hip-Hop Monologue,” which features music from his up-coming album, “Pray for Reign.”
The whole idea of a hip-hop monologue is actually intriguing if executed correctly. I can see more introspective artists such as Nas, Mos Def, Kweli, Common and especially Kanye doing veryinteresting monologue performances.
So while me, and over 2,000 others, shut down Broad Street last night after the election it was pretty evident that Young Jeezy’s “My President is Black” is the hip-hop’s celebratory anthem. It played in every car that was stopped in the middle of the street, every car that had people hanging out of it, and in my iPhone all day. I actually like it more after last night.
Not sure how I’m just catching wind of this but this is some footage of out favorite syrup-sipper in a play when he was a seventh grader in New Orleans.
Birdman is being sued for $275,000 by a Miami promoter for consistently backing out of shows. Birdman was allegedly given said money to put on a show in Miami and canceled over and over a again.
The suit was filed today in L.A. Superior Court and listed one reason for backing out of a show was that “the weather was to cold” under that Miami sun.
Oh, and the pic above is a pic of Birdman giving Lil Wayne $1 million last week. I’m not sure why but it is a millie in the Louis’ case. [TMZ]
T.I. and M.I.A. hit the stage –Pharrell was there too– and did a performance of a song that displays hip-hop’s lateness on M.I.A, “Swagga Like Us.” Sorry the quality is so poor, as it’s some straight guerilla footage, but it was a pretty cool moment. Also, continue to see M.I.A. perform “Paper Planes” with Pharrell and Rye Rye, and see how preggo M.I.A. is. Oh, and that video is much better quality. Read the rest of this entry »
Kanye joined T.I. on stage to perform his verse from “Swagga Like Us” then did “Love Lockdown” and “Heartless,” the second single from “808’s and Heartbreak.” A few other cameos in the video too.
This is funny. I like Maino even more. Maino was performing and some dude in the crowd was throwing his hood up a little too hard so Maino got in his face and put the Hi Hater hand on him. Continue to hear Maino explain the incident and a few other things.
