This is a throwback and a half. Foxy Boogie, Murda Mase and Killa Cam freestyle on Hot 97 almost 12 years ago. You can here Cam with the old “S.D.E.” flow and the young-ass voice. Was Children of the Corn still a group at this time? Always nice to go back to the beginning of things.

Hip-hop Pioneer Joseph Saddler, better known as Grandmaster Flash, has been in the game since conception at the end of the flashy disco era on the streets of the Bronx. Now, he’s telling his story in a new tell-all book.
“The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash: My Life, My Beats,” published by Broadway Books, is about the price of success –”from his violent family life to his contentious relationship with his first label, Sugar Hill Records, to the drug addiction that very nearly killed him.”
Flash, 49, along with the Furious Five, went platinum as artists under Sugar Hill Records and are the first and only hip-hop act in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Spear-heading such success was the anything-but-nice Sylvia Robinson. “She did do some things that in today’s world would probably get her head chopped off,” Flash told the NY Daily News.
The Grandmaster is credited for the techniques that are customary to hip-hop DJs and is working on a new album called “The Bridge.”

With Eliot Spitzer’s resignation effective after his involvement as “Client #9″ in a prostitution ring, I’d like to examine other elected public officials that have gone wild in recent history. Remember Marion Barry? This was the DC mayor who announced a war on drugs in the nation’s capital yet he was caught smoking crack in an FBI sting operation. The 80’s Bronx gangster, Larry Davis was killed yesterday in a state prison in ulster County. Davis, 41, was stabbed repeatedly with a homemade shank. Money on his head?
On Nov. 19, 1986, six police officers were shot, four of them seriously, while trying to apprehend Mr. Davis, then 20, at an apartment in the Morrisania section of the Bronx. It was at the time the largest number of officers to be wounded in one shooting in the history of the New York Police Department. Mr. Davis was wanted in connection with the killing of four young men found in the Longwood section of the Bronx on Oct. 30. Read the rest of this entry »

This is about a year old and come from SMACK Vol. 12. My brother put me on to this and I love it! Dose is clearly the lyricist and Math is clearly the thug. Math had an animated Philly flow and Math straight kept it Brooklyn. It was a great battle but it all went bad Dose got a little too close to Math. That’s not even the end of it. Listen to Math’s verse and you’ll see that some of his bars came true!
“Frontin’ like you hard, then runnin’ for ya fuckin’ life!”
Best parts of the SMACK editing: 1. Playing “I’ll Whip Yo’ Head Boy” when the first punch was thrown. 2. Jadakiss’ “SMACK!” drop at the end!
