This isn’t that off kilter. Martha Stewart is kind of hip-hop. She spent time in the big-house. Doesn’t that give her a little street cred? No?

50 Cent, as always, is vocal about his competition in music and television. Again, he shows discontent for Kanye West’s “808s and Heartbreak,” and finds a new foe in Donald Trump. MTV caught up with Curtis backstage at the TRL finale show and offered his opinion and some advice for the billionaire real estate mogul.
So says 50 about Trump:
“Donald Trump talking about my show and how it’s a knockoff of ‘The Apprentice’? He’s crazy!” 50 said. “That’s what happens when you get older — you start to view things differently…First, let me point out [my show] got the highest ratings…In this economy, he may want to go sing ‘In Da Club’ instead of selling real estate!”

Although, the presidential elections are over, many of you may be fiending for some more political news. We’ve heard a lot from our winner, President elect Barack Obama, but here we have more drama from Sara Palin and some humor from John McCain.
Matt Lauer interviewed Palin in two parts on the “Today Show” and, as always, it was interesting. John McCain made a light-hearted appearance on “The Tonight Show,” wuth an audience full of soldiers, where he spoke of life after the loss of the presidency to Barack Obama. This morning on the MSNBC morning show, “Morning Joe,” host, Joe Scarborough, unknowingly said the word “fuck” while live on the air. He was describing President Obama’s forming-cabinet as “good, decent, steady” men and inadvertently turns the show to a Rated R program. The “fuck” hits the fan at 0:26. The FCC fines are probably hefty but the reactions are priceless.

After 19 years, BET axed the only show dedicated to hip-hop, “Rap City.” The show has seen an array of hosts including, Chris Thomas, Joe Clair, Mad Linx and Big Tigger, and seen its share of ups and downs.
The show has consistently flipped-flopped between the 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. time slots but drastically changed to 1 a.m. which foreshadowed its demise. BET announced that the show was officially canceled after the last show aired on Sept. 30.
BET replaced “Rap City” with a new show called “The Deal,” which first aired Nov. 10. The show, hosted by MeMpHitz, takes place on a set which is modeled after a hip-hop boutique. Diamond Kutz serves as the shows resident DJ on the show, airing weekdays at 5 p.m.
“The Deal” features captions during the videos, similar to that of VH1’s ’90s show “Pop-Up Videos,” but has a BET-twist to it. Example, “The world’s first robot hype man,” popped up on the screen describing Pharell in Common’s “Universal Mind Control” video. Things like that are what make the show seem a little sub-par.
Besides the pop-ups, the new show will implement new segments such as “Certified Fresh” and “Line for Line,” while still keeping the legendary Booth.
MeMpHitz is an adequate VJ but he sometimes sounds like he’s doing a vocal drop on a mixtape. Nothing against Diamond Kutz, but the guest DJs customary to “Rap City” was something that gave the show more variety.
The cramped and dark set of “The Deal” is nothing exciting. It’s a steel-gray and looks like a dungeon with random effects placed seemingly at random. I, personally, am not a fan of the show and hope they do something to make the show more appealing.

Here’s the first episode of 50’s new show on MTV. Durags, though? For real? How fast will it get cancel? Just kidding. The episode gets better as it goes on. I’ve gotta say that the elimination process is a must-see.

So while me, and over 2,000 others, shut down Broad Street last night after the election it was pretty evident that Young Jeezy’s “My President is Black” is the hip-hop’s celebratory anthem. It played in every car that was stopped in the middle of the street, every car that had people hanging out of it, and in my iPhone all day. I actually like it more after last night.
